The Crazy Fun Hat Run

Yesterday, Jenn, JoAnn, Liz and I competed in the Crazy Fun Hat Run. Liz was the event organizer and it ended up being a hit. Fifty plus people showed up for the free race. I, like most husbands, am so proud of my wife. Only recently (within two weeks) did Jenn start feeling like she had enough energy and was getting enough sleep at night to start running again. Her pre-race training consisted of above 5 runs. The day before the race she was still trying to decide if she should do the 5 or 10K, and then someone (I won't name them) questioned whether she could do the 10K. That made the decision an easy one for her. She finished the 10K with a really good time considering her short training regimen. She is such an awesome person. Most people don't realize how competitive she is because she, unlike me, competes with tact. But, if you doubt her toughness she will quietly douse your uncertainty. JoAnn and Liz did exceedingly well too. This was JoAnn first race and she finished above the middle of the pack. Liz is a veteran racer and this was the first of 10 races she hopes to do in 2010. My friend Todd came down and took second in the 5K with a 7:42 min/mile avg.
My competitive nature won't allow me to mention that in spite of how well JoAnn, Liz and Jenn did, I still beat all three of them.
